Nuestra Jornada (Our Journey) is a peer support program for children and teenagers grieving loss within immigrant families from Mexico and Central America. Established in 2014–2015 to address a critical service gap, the program emerged in response to increasing requests for Spanish-language peer grief groups. It was created with the guidance of an advisory committee made up of bilingual and bicultural youth service providers. Special attention is given to young people whose families have been impacted by violent deaths connected to human rights crises in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras. In addition to death-related grief, the program also supports youth experiencing loss due to deportation, incarceration, parental abandonment, kidnapping, and separation by borders. Nuestra Jornada brings youth together in their shared journeys—of immigration, of grief, and of healing.
