Moms Sharing and Healing

The Mamás Compartiendo Y Sanando Program (Moms Sharing and Healing) provides biweekly grief support groups and peer navigation for grieving Spanish-speaking moms and pregnant moms. On top of losses including death and deportation, many of the participants are thousands of miles away from their own families, separated by borders.

The Compartiendo y Sanando program at Gerard’s House strives to:
(1) Create a safe and nurturing space for young parents where we bring awareness about behavioral health and how it can directly impact the young parents’ children
(2) Be a resource for young parents who feel they have no one to turn to during vulnerable and challenging times
(3) Provide individual crisis response and wrap-around services

Motherhood and grief can be deeply intertwined, and no mother should have to navigate that journey alone. This video was created to provide mothers in the community with information about available resources for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum support. In addition to our grief support groups, we offer navigation services to help moms connect with vital community resources, ensuring they receive the care and support they need.

You are not alone—there is a community here to support you and your baby on your healing journey.

At the heart of Compartiendo Y Sanando are opportunities for moms to support each other, helping them feel more connected and confident as parents. Resources contribute to feeling more integrated into our community with their children. The moms often share that being a good parent means everything to them and that they are better parents because of this program.

Our Services Include:

  • Monthly peer grief and loss support groups for mothers with children ages 0-5 or who are pregnant (virtual and in person)
  • A once-a-month family event for mothers, fathers (in collaboration with Fathers New Mexico), and their children.
  • Monthly distribution of diapers
  • Peer navigation for resources in our community

What moms are saying about the Sharing & Healing program:

“I like to attend because I feel peace being in that place, I feel supported”

“Meeting other mothers has helped me not feel alone and understand that I can count on many more people in this country where many of us find ourselves alone without any family other than our partner and children.”

“The group helped me during some of the most difficult times in my life when I felt most alone, I received support and love.”

“It helps me identify with some moms and know that I’m not the only one who goes through difficult times as a mom.”
